Simon Cunnington is the director of Cunnington Endodontics. He is one of only a few Endodontists to receive his specialty training in the USA and was the first European Endodontist to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, possibly the highest qualification achievable in the sphere of endodontics. He was extremely fortunate to have his training supervised by Dr Edward Osetek, who was recognised as one of the foremost endodontic educators in America. He maintains his connection through the American Association of Endodontists as well as the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics.
Having returned to the United Kingdom he spent over a decade in postgraduate training at the Eastman Dental Institute before concentrating his efforts in his own specialist practice.
He has always been a strong advocate of the specialty and has served time on both the British Endodontic Society as well as the European Society of Endodontology and is still involved on the ESE specialist training subcommitee. He has been a representative on the advisory committee of the Royal College and continues to support the specialty in every way.
He was the President of the British Endodontic Society in 2012
With the introduction of continuing postgraduate development he was responsible for the creation of the Langham Endodontic Study Group, a professional organisation dedicated to the continuing education of Endodontic specialists.
He continues to lecture throughout Europe and still presents practical training courses for the profession.
